We decided on a Valentine's theme for our craft market on 7 February 2009. We didn't have much time to prepare, but I think we did a sterling job. Unfortunately the market was very quiet and we didn't make many sales. The important thing was that we had fun!

NATO warships come to town.
Some NATO warships docked at the Cape Town harbour - this was the first time that they were in our waters. We got to go on board and look around. Juliana, Adrian and I were just as interested as Julie, Bianca and Michaela.

This poor Portuguese sailor got roped into having his picture taken....
Julie's going to take up pole dancing....

The girls even got to sit in the captain's chair.

Whose paying for the next round of drinks?

Ice Skating Lessons Start!
At last, Bianca and Michaela have a Saturday morning off so that they can start taking ice skating lessons. What a blast! Carla and Julie had joined the previous week so were ready for action. Maree bought Cassidy and Eve so that they could also join in the fun.
Julie takes a tumble.....
Anton was the only adult to brave the ice.

Juliana braves the beach alone!
Juliana and Julie decided it was a beachy - type day. It's no fun going to the beach on your own, so Juliana faced the challenge of taking Bianca, Carla, Courtney and Michaela along for the outing. What fun they had! Juliana added to the fun with milkshakes and pizzas. Thanks Juliana for a great outing!

Party, Party, Party!
What makes someone pass out in a position like this?
No, it's not alcohol induced!!! It was an all day - into the night party, party, party!
Michaela and Carla were the first to pass out, followed by Courtney....
Juliana had her hands full because Julie and Bianca carried on until 1 the next morning!
Julie's party started at 10am. The bird man came with all his feathered friends. The kids were very interested in what he had to say.

Even the little boys were disgusted with the baby chickens that are fed to the birds. The bird man explained that the birds need the feathers and bones to help their digestion.
This owl was very interested in the other owl that was in the mirror sitting on Lisa's shoulder!

Julie was given the important task of babysitting Wonky, the owl that can't walk or fly. Wonky was quite happy to just lie there and have a snooze.

At the end of the show, all the children were given the opportunity to hold the birds and to feel their feathers.

What would a party be without cake :
And presents!
After a short break the party changed gears and carried on at Courney's house.

The kids got to top their own pizzas. Some, like Bianca and Michaela, who are not that adventurous stuck to cheese only but others had more topping than pizza (Hey, Keith!) :-)
After the pizza, it was down to some serious crafting! The task was to create a scrapbook page especially for Courtney.

And then there was some more CAKE!!!!
And presents!
in bags; much to Helen's delight!!!!
At the end of the day even Holly was exhausted!
Thanks to Juliana and Helen, all the kids had a day to remember where they could party to their hearts content. Never before have they had the opportunity to eat so many sweets, not to mention the yummy cakes!
